David Artavia (he/him)

Executive Director

David Artavia is an award-winning journalist and producer with nearly two decades of experience advancing LGBTQ+ storytelling across media, nonprofit, and public sector spaces. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate and Out, two of the most influential LGBTQ+ publications in the United States, where he guided editorial through defining cultural moments and helped shape national conversations around identity, culture, and equality. He later reported for Yahoo News, bringing national attention to issues related to health, identity, and systemic inequities.

 

Throughout his career, David has collaborated with artists, organizations, and community leaders to design initiatives that center creative expression and belonging. He brings deep expertise in LGBTQ+ history and youth empowerment to The Future Perfect Project’s mission of amplifying young queer voices through artistic mentorship and creative programming.
